Goldman elected Vice Chair of Division of Materials Physics

We are pleased to announce that Professor Rachel Goldman has been elected Vice Chair of the Division of Materials Physics (DMP) of the American Physical Society (APS). As an officer of DMP for the next four years, Goldman will first serve as Vice Chair and then Chair-Elect before being appointed Chair in 2021.  Her term will begin in early March, following the 2019 APS Meeting in Boston.

“I am honored to represent the materials physics community both within and beyond the APS ” said Goldman. “I am excited to communicate the excitement and importance of materials physics, to advocate for the community with various agencies and the congress, and to grow the pipeline of materials physicists.”

Founded in 1984, the Division of Materials Physics is one of the largest divisions of the American Physical Society. Materials Physics emphasizes the application of fundamental condensed matter concepts to complex and multiphase media, including novel materials of technological interest.

Congratulations, Rachel!
