The MSE Fall 2020 Open House will be held virtually on Monday, November 16 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. The event is open to all students interested in learning more about Materials Science & Engineering.

Energy, sustainability, medicine, electronics and computation, communication, aerospace and transportation—their innovation and progress critically depends on engineered matter. Materials scientists are trained to engineer new physical behavior of matter that will propel the next technological revolution.

At the Open House you will:

  • Learn more about the department and how the MSE curriculum prepares one to impact technology and everyday life using data science, computation, physical properties of materials, materials manufacturing;
  • Engage with employers, alumni, current students, and faculty; and
  • Get a tour of the Van Vlack Undergraduate Laboratory and see materials in action through a live mechanical test, demonstration of piezoelectric energy harvester, and quantum levitation with a superconductor!
