Alan Taub wins TMS Research to Industrial Practice Award

MSE is pleased to announce that Professor Alan Taub has been named the 2020 recipient of The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS) Research to Industrial Practice Award. The annual honor recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in transferring research results or findings into commercial production and practical use.

In its official award citation, TMS applauded Taub for his "leadership that led to the formulation and execution of novel industrial research and development projects which brought together many parts of the supply chain, and demonstrated that modern materials design practices can lead to new products and pathways to success for the entire manufacturing industry."

"It is quite an honor to be recognized by my colleagues at TMS for the Application to Practice Award," said Taub. "I have always felt that performing leading edge scientific discovery and then applying those insights to technology development and commercialization is key to world class innovation. I have been fortunate in being able to practice that approach in both industry and academia. The TMS meetings have always provided an excellent forum for presenting and discussing the results of that research."

Taub will officially receive the award later this month at the TMS Annual Meeting in San Diego.

The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS) is a professional association that connects minerals, metals, and materials scientists and engineers who work in industry, academia, and government positions around the world.
