Assistant Professor John Heron

MSE is pleased to announce that Assistant Professor John Heron has been selected as the 2022 recipient of the MSE Faculty Outstanding Accomplishment Award.

The award is presented annually to a faculty member for his or her stellar performance in materials research and teaching, and service to the department. A single recipient is chosen every year by the department chair.

"Since joining MSE in 2016, Professor Heron has established an internationally-recognized research program in functional complex oxide materials with notable contributions in electric field control of magnetism with multiferroics and entropy stabilized oxides," noted MSE department chair Amit Misra. "He is a real asset to the MSE department with his research leadership, teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses and professional service."

Heron will receive the award at the MSE graduation dinner on April 28 and will be recognized by the Dean of Engineering at the annual CoE faculty honors banquet, also this spring.

Congratulations, John!
