Katsuyo Thornton named ASM Fellow

Professor Katsuyo Thornton

ASM International (formerly American Society for Metals) has just named Katsuyo Thornton a Fellow of ASM, one of the highest honors in the field of materials.

According to ASM, Thornton was selected “for ground-breaking contributions to the science of phase transformations, significant impact on the K-12 community by training educators in materials science and engineering curricula, and leadership in broadening participation in integrated computational materials engineering."

ASM Fellows are technical and professional leaders who have been recognized by their colleagues and now serve as advisors to the society. Their solicited guidance, provided by ASM Fellows to the ASM Board of Trustees, enhances the society's standing as a leading organization for materials and provides a unique resource to serve the worldwide community of materials scientists and engineers in the years ahead.

ASM International established the honor of Fellow of ASM (FASM) in 1969 to provide recognition to ASM members for their distinguished contributions to materials science and engineering.
