The Michigan Materials Society (MMS) has been named the recipient of the 2019 Elaine Harden Award, presented annually to an engineering student organization that best exemplifies dedicated leadership and service to the community.

According to the award committee: “[MMS’s] outreach work was impressive and includes teaching material science concepts to public school students, volunteering for Food Gatherers, and hosting events to engage non-MSE CoE Students.”

“We are really excited to be recognized by the College of Engineering for our work,” said MMS president Sahil Dagli. “Over the past year, we have been focused on starting a lot of new initiatives to help current and future students, and we are very thankful for the support we receive from the MSE faculty and staff. The MMS Board is a fantastic team that I personally have really enjoyed being a part of during my time here.”

"MMS is truly honored to have been selected for the Elaine Harden Award this year,” added MMS vice-president Tanvi Gupta. “It is great to know that our efforts are making positive impacts on the community, and we hope to continue to do so in the future."
