Three Materials Science and Engineering faculty were honored by The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society.  The honorees will receive their accolades during the TMS–AIME Awards Ceremony on Wednesday March 1, 2017 at the TMS 2017 Annual Meeting & Exhibition (TMS2017) held from February 26–March 2 in San Diego, California.

John Allison, MSE Professor, received the TMS Leadership award, which recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the national and international materials community.

Citation: For his leadership in development and implementation of integrated computational materials engineering (ICME) in light-weight structural metallic materials.

Gary Was, MSE Professor (by courtesy), was name a TMS Fellow.  The Class of Fellow is the highest honor bestowed by TMS. To be inducted, a candidate must be recognized as a leading authority and contributor to the practice of metallurgy, materials science, and technology, with strong consideration given to outstanding service to the society. 
Citation: For seminal contributions to understanding environmental degradation of structural materials, with emphasis on irradiation-assisted stress corrosion cracking and irradiationinduced microstructural changes.

Amit Misra, MSE Professor & Chair, Brimacombe Medalist.  This award recognizes individuals with: sustained excellence and achievement in business, technology, education, public policy, or science related to minerals, metals, or materials science and engineering, and a record of continuing service to the profession. 

Citation: For groundbreaking research on the mechanics and radiation response of nano-composite materials and for excellence in mentorship and service to the materials community.
