Professor Steve Yalisove and Dr. Tim Chambers were recently recognized by the Materials Division of American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE).

Yalisove, who joined the MSE faculty in 1989, received the 2021 Michael Ashby Outstanding Materials Educator Award by the Materials Division of ASEE and ANSYS Granta. The award recognizes distinguished and exceptional contribution in materials science and engineering eduction. It is intended to honor an individual with demonstrated notable leadership in the materials education area. 

Yalisove was selected for his "extensive innovations in active and team-based pedagogies," and for his "enthusiastic creation of web-based tools to enhance student learning."

In 2019, Yalisove received the award for Outstanding Contributions to Materials Education at the 10th annual North American Materials Education Symposium (NAMES).

Chambers, who came to U-M in 2015, was selected to receive the 2021 New Materials Educator Award for his "extremely impressive and obvious dedication to educational excellence." 

Yalisove and Chambers were officially recognized at the ASEE Annual Conference held virtually July 26-29.
