GSRAs are entitled to two weeks (10 business days) of vacation per calendar year

• This is separate from other leaves (i.e. University holidays, sick leave, FMLA leave, etc.)
• Note that academic breaks like Spring Break are not University holidays and would count as vacation
• Advisors have discretion to adjust upward and/or to allow vacation accrual

Vacation dates must be approved by research advisor

• Student is expected to:
• Request dates in writing as soon as possible, at least 14 days ahead of time
• Recognize the needs of the lab group may restrict available dates
• Advisor is expected to:
• Make best efforts to grant requests
• Provide written feedback promptly
